Exploration X

The drawing 'Exploration X' by Jim Kinsey.
Gouache, acrylic, pastel, and ink on paper

Red, white and blue; Stars and Stripes; honestly, it was unintentional... (though there are few coincidences in life, so I wouldn't go that far).

I came up with this while lying in a bed at night in a room during the first couple of days of my stay in Hammersmith Hospital's CCU. The blue vertical blinds had caught a little and a tall, narrow triangle of the outside world could be seen. There was a streetlight outside not far away, and the building directly opposite was very close, hence the orange/yellow glow. I remember there being a hint of green, though I didn't know why.

I like this one. Though it was my second use of gouache (first unsupervised...), and I didn't do a good job of consistently mixing and applying the blue.
